Sample Itineraries

The itineraries below are examples of a few of the many activities from which your group can choose. One of the services offered by the Hot Springs Convention and Visitors Bureau is customized itineraries. With each group having different needs and interests, this approach has proven most successful. Please contact us for additional information.

Day One

2:00 – Fordyce Bath House - The first stop will be the Fordyce Bath House. This elegant structure is one of eight bathhouses built in the early 1900s that also serves as The National Park Visitors Center as well as a museum depicting the thermal bathing and spa industry that has flourished in the Hot Springs area for many years. Twenty-three restored rooms are furnished as they appeared during the spa’s heyday.

3:00 - Walking tour along Bathhouse Row - This tour through the National Historic Landmark District includes the grandest collections of bathhouses of its kind in North America. The Buckstaff and Quapaw Bath Houses are the only two bathhouses currently in use. The other five bathhouses are in various stages of renovation/restoration, in preparation for leasing by the National Park Service for future businesses that must meet strict National Park and Historical District requirements.

4:00 - Free time for shopping in the historic downtown - The atmosphere in the Downtown area is picture-postcard perfect with Victorian architecture. Central Avenue (main street) is lined with historic landmarks and buildings that offer a variety of specialty stores featuring fine art, antiques, gourmet foods, fine jewelry, imported furniture, vintage children’s toys and boutique clothing.

5:30 - Check-in to Hotel

6:30 - Whether it’s fine dining in the Historic District or on the shores of Lake Hamilton, restaurants of all styles and food types are abundant in the Spa City.

8:00 - Maxwell Blade’s Magic Lantern Theatre - Join Master Illusionist Maxwell Blade in historic downtown Hot Springs. Maxwell will take you on a magical journey in the Magical Lantern Theatre, amazing his audience with illusions and saluting great magicians of all time. Join Max for an unforgettable evening with the entire family.

10:00 - Return to hotel

Day Two

8:00 – Thermal Bathing Experience - As one noted journalist wrote “…coming to Hot Springs National Park and not enjoying the world famous baths, is comparable to visiting Yosemite National Park and not looking at the Giant Sequoias…”. Bathing in the thermal mountain spring waters and partaking in a rejuvenating massage, manicure, pedicure, or facial is a luxurious and unforgettable experience that has brought visitors to Hot Springs for centuries. The thermal Baths are available at the following locations:

  • The Arlington Resort Hotel and Spa
  • The Buckstaff Bath House
  • The Springs Hotel and Spa
  • Spa in the Park – Austin Hotel
  • Quapaw Baths and Spa

11:00 - Garvan Woodland Gardens - a 210-acre botanical garden in a unique forested setting surrounded by 4-1/2 miles of Lake Hamilton shoreline. Garvan Woodland Gardens offers a nationally recognized Japanese garden, water features, thousands of plantings, and one of Arkansas’ newest architectural glass and timber landmarks, Anthony Chapel.

12:30 – Lunch at the Gardens

1:30 – Lunch on you own in the Historic District

2:45 – The Hot Springs Documentary Film Institute – Choose from thousands of titles of documentary films with themes ranging from African-American history, Arkansas related films, to Sports themed films. Come in October and enjoy this two week long event. One of the top two film festivals in the Country!

3:00 – Enjoy an afternoon at the races…Oaklawn Park – is celebrating their second century of thoroughbred racing, as well as offering instant racing and electronic games of skill. Oaklawn Jockey Club is continually rated one of the top racetracks in the nation.

2:45 - The Gangster Museum of America – Take a unique look at the lives and times of the country’s most notorious mobsters, including Al Capone, Lucky Luciano and Owen Vincent Madden who flocked to Hot Springs in the ‘20s, ‘30s and ‘40s. This exhibit allows you to enter the world of casino gambling featuring historical photographs, video displays, and actual equipment from several of the former social clubs on Central Avenue.

4:30 – Return to your hotel and free time

6:00 - The Belle of Hot Springs for a dinner and a cruise – A 300 passenger riverboat cruises beautiful Lake Hamilton daily with narrated sightseeing, luncheon, or dinner/dance cruises. Award-winning prime rib and other entrees available and full bar service.

9:30 – Return to your hotel.

Day Three

8:00 – Breakfast and depart.
