Baseball Then & Now | I Am Hot Springs

Hot Springs' role in the history of Baseball is as integral to the game as hot dogs & Cracker Jack's! It is the very birthplace of Spring Training!

In 1886, Cap Anson brought his Chicago White Stockings (now the Cubs) to Hot Springs. The health spa with its famous hot mineral baths, the mountains, trails, hotels and activities in this bustling turn-of-the-century resort was the perfect place for something no one had ever heard of: annual spring training for professional baseball. From historic fields and recreational retreats, to the roles of Oaklawn Racing and Gaming and Bathhouse Row as entertainment for baseball's finest, a connection to history is around every turn! The passion for the sport in Hot Springs is as alive today as it was then! Now... play ball!
