This spring and summer, art takes flight at Garvan Woodland Gardens with Where the Wind Lives, a breathtaking large-scale installation by internationally acclaimed artist Patrick Shearn of Poetic Kinetics. Suspended above the Gardens’ natural landscape, this immersive exhibit transforms wind into movement, light, and color—creating a living, ever-changing experience for every guest.


As warm breezes move through the Gardens, the artwork ripples, dances, and shimmers across the sky—blending seamlessly with the beauty of the surrounding forest. Installed in multiple locations throughout the Gardens, each piece invites visitors to pause, look up, and experience nature in a whole new way.

Where the Wind Lives is included with general admission and will be on display April 24 through October 18.

Patrick Shearn, Creative Director of Poetic Kinetics, is a visionary artist renowned for his captivating, large-scale public art installations that transform urban spaces and engage audiences around the globe. Fueled by a passion for exploring human connection, emotion, and our relationship with the natural world, Shearn creates immersive experiences that inspire wonder and introspection, captivating viewers on both visual and emotional levels.

Shearn’s artistic career started in the film industry, on notable projects such as “Jurassic Park,” “Fight Club,” and “Interview with a Vampire,”. This experience nurtured his creative spirit and honed his technical prowess, ultimately leading him to establish Poetic Kinetics, a collective of talented artists.
