Emergent Arts

Emergent Arts is housed in nearly 4000 sq. ft of the historic Dryden Pottery Studio. The staff of Emergent Arts and Dryden Pottery have worked together to facilitate a whirlwind renovation. The new location boasts a Community Art Gallery, dedicated Performing Arts and Visual Arts Studios, ADA accessible entry and restrooms. Phase II of the renovation includes five private subsidized art studios, expanded environmental systems, and lofted office and meeting spaces.

Erin Holliday, Executive Director of EA says, "Everyone has [worked] so hard and their dedication is very inspiring. Friends and family, and even strangers, have rallied around our project and volunteered in the Arkansas heat to help us open in time for Gallery Walk."

Fall 2013 Classes at Emergent Arts filled up fast. Classes in dance, music, theater, drawing and painting, comics, sculpture, mixed media, ceramics, and cultural arts were available across all ages and taught by professional artists. Students were introduced to a high standard of education with respect to process, material, and concept. "We worked diligently to recruit professional artist - educators to bring their knowledge to Emergent Arts. We also invited educators from the community to assist in setting the Fall 2013 schedule and my family and I are very excited about the offerings." said Chris Hough, Emergent Arts President and Parent of EA after School Arts students.

"We are very pleased to open in our new location and to be able to offer so many wonderful art classes to the community. The positive response we have gotten from our class schedule is very encouraging." Holliday said "But, there is still so much more to do in our expansion. We are looking forward to additional community involvement and support moving toward Phase II of our renovation." Individuals can continue to support Emergent Arts through volunteering, supply donations, and monetary donations to their Scholarship Fund or the Square Foot Fund which directly supports renovation efforts; please visit www.emergentarts.org for details.
