There are few activities more fun than mining your own gems. At Ron Coleman Mining, we have extensive premises boasting a huge mine, a gift shop full of decorative quartz and other minerals, a wholesale shop for buying minerals in bulk, an RV resort and a large digging area for the intrepid visitor. Our mine is so fruitful that we guarantee you’ll walk away with a beautiful quartz crystal.
We offer quartz in a great variety of sizes for sale in our gift shop, as well as minerals from around the world. We have an entirely separate area for wholesale buyers to buy items for purchase for their own shops. We also encourage you to view our incredible gallery, which features museum quality pieces, dug right here in our own mine, as well as large specimens from around the world. If you’re interested in staying to dig another day, check out our grand RV Park, which offers plenty of space and a gorgeous view of the Arkansas mountain range. Available Activities
Ron Coleman Mining offers comprehensive rock mining for all ages and skill levels, whether you’re completing a mineral tour of the country or taking your young children on a family adventure. Some of the many features of our mine include:
- Daily mining: Anyone and everyone is welcome to our public mining area, no reservations necessary. We are open all day, every day, year round, with just slightly shorter hours during the winter season. Young children dig free and we even allow leashed pets to “mine” with you. Our friendly staff will direct you to the digging area, go over our few rules, guide you to what you'll be looking for, provide expert answers to any questions you may have and give you the opportunity to purchase tools and safety gear, such as protective gloves and eyewear.
- Mine Tours: Have you ever thought about the process of our quartz crystals being mined from the rugged earth and becoming shiny decorative rocks? Our tours begin with a short history of the mine and a view of our Gallery. Next, take an army truck ride down through the mine where you get to see the crystal veins and our water source. We finish your adventure in the processing area where we clean and sort the crystals. Tour hours change during off season. For more information, call (800) 291-4484.
- Zipline: Come ride our quarter mile long zipline across our mine and experience the never before seen "bird's eye" view of our mining pit.
- RV Park: Our paved, on-site RV Park has 24 spots with water and electricity. 10 of which have septic. We also have a laundromat, and restrooms with showers. There is a station for washing off your crystals, and a covered pavilion for having lunch. All of this is within walking distance of our gift shop and mining area.
- All-day Unlimited Digging: Once you’ve paid your digging fee, you’re welcome to dig as long as you like for that day and to come and go as you please, so feel free to wander over to the gift shop, take a rest or go out to lunch. We provide you with a complimentary gem bag to hold your findings, but you are by no means limited to the capacity of the bag. Extra bags are for sale for only 50 cents.
