2023 $100,000 Hot Springs Fishing Challenge Ends With $12,500 of $100,000 Prize Money Awarded

HOT SPRINGS NATIONAL PARK, Arkansas — The 2023 $100,000 Hot Springs Fishing Challenge ended Monday at 5 p.m. with $12,500 of the prize money awarded to 15 lucky anglers.

“With the Challenge being held for the first time since 2019 because of the covid pandemic, we were hopeful that all the 66 tagged fish would be caught, including $20,000 Big Al,” Visit Hot Springs CEO Steve Arrison said Monday evening. “We’ll get together with our partners at the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and decide whether we will have the Challenge again in 2024.”

Sixty-six fish were tagged in May and released by the AG&FC into Lake Hamilton and Lake Catherine.

During the 2019 Fishing Challenge 71 fish were tagged and released, with 24 of them being caught. Prize money handed out that year totaled $24,500, Arrison said.
