‘Front Porch Soul’ Musician Brian Martin to Play June 22 As Fourth Act in 2023 Free Bridge Street LIVE Concerts

HOT SPRINGS NATIONAL PARK, Arkansas — Arkansas-based musician Brian Martin describes his music as “front porch soul,” and he’ll deliver a “mess” of it Thursday [June 22] as he brings Brian Martin’s Mess to the fourth of this year’s free Bridge Street LIVE concerts in the Bridge Street Entertainment District in downtown Hot Springs.

The 2023 edition of the Bridge Street LIVE series takes place each Thursday in June in the Bridge Street Entertainment District in downtown Hot Springs. Bridge Street LIVE features free live music, food, drinks, games and family fun.

Martin interweaves old-time country blues and mountain folk music with Southern soul, funk and gospel. The result is what Martin refers to as "front porch soul." His burly voice and down-home witty tales result in music that is entertaining for generations young and old.

Primarily performing as a solo artist since the early 2000s, Martin released his debut album, “No Rider,” in 2011, a bare bones collection of intimate folk songs.

He is also a founding member of Sad Daddy, a string band based in the Ozarks. The band has released three studio albums and a live album, their most recent, “Way Up In The Hills,” debuting in 2022.

Martin has spent the last year assembling “Brian Martin’s Mess,” featuring a revolving cast of supporting musicians. Along with “the Mess,” Martin has spent the early months of 2023 in the studio recording tracks for his upcoming album.

Arkansas artist and performer, Bethannie Newsom Steelman will be holding a Hula Hoop workshop at 6 PM in the Bridge Street LIVE! Entertainment District. Participants will be able to build their very own hula hoop and learn some cool hoop tricks too!

The remaining 2023 Bridge Street LIVE lineup features:

  • June 22 — Brian Martin's Mess (Americana/Roots)
  • June 29 — Big Piph (Hip Hop), Sean Fresh opens

DJ Courier will spin music each night from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Each Thursday the entertainment district will open at 5 p.m., and the free concert will begin at 7.
